Jonathan Gross is a member of the Get Creative Research Project team at King’s College London. The team at King’s is evaluating the campaign and undertaking a broader piece of research investigating the conditions that motivate, enable and constrain everyday creativity. As part of this work, Jonathan and members of the team are conducting focus groups with What Next? chapters in 8 regions of the UK. On Wednesday he will talk with the Cardiff chapter about experiences and impressions of the Get Creative campaign. The purpose of What Next?

Broad aim: to find new ways of engaging with our audience and visitors: the ever-expanding millions who value and take part in the cultural work that happens day-in, day-out up and down this country.

Guiding star: to encourage the people of this country, as individuals and as communities, to see connections between the many different ways art and culture affect and enhance our lives; to urge everyone to register their endorsement of – and pleasure in – their art and culture, especially where these are under threat.

#LoveTheatreDay – 18 November
As with last year’s event, there is one main hashtag, which this year will group all three words together: #LoveTheatreDay. This will guide the overall conversation throughout the day, with three sub-hashtags to highlight specific themes:

*   #BackStage (10am–12pm) will offer audiences and other arts pros a glimpse into how a production comes together in the weeks leading up to the big night.

*   #AskATheatre (3–5pm) will offer a unique opportunity for theatre fans and aspiring actors to hear first-hand from the individuals and groups that make the magic happen.

*   #Showtime (7–10pm) will give those who can’t make it to a theatre the chance to sit in the “virtual stalls” to experience a performance, or several, via Twitter.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask. You can follow them on Twitter @LoveTheatreDay  or follow @CultureThemes@TwitterUK and @GdnCulturePros.
